We interrupt our programme to bring you this important message. We’ve just been informed of a terrible event that could have dire consequences for the safety of our country. It appears that a monster - yes, a monster - has been sighted near the Hoover Dam. Witnesses are describing it as a ‘giant spider’. We cannot confirm anything else at the moment, but we are awaiting footage allegedly captured in the area and we will broadcast it as soon as we obtain it. 

What initial reports we have describe an earth-shattering sound and a bright flash of green light before the monster appeared, as if out of thin air. There is currently no new information following these statements, and it appears that communications are down close to the apparition site. Since the zone is populated, there is concern regarding the safety of a few small settlements in the dam’s immediate vicinity. Additionally, there are questions about economic repercussions in view of the fact that the region is heavily industrialized. Most recently, the billion-dollar company Droxton Oil shared plans to build a new pipeline system in the area. We have reached out to representatives of Droxton Oil, but we do not have a response from them at this time.

Local authorities have been dispatched to the Hoover Dam, but it has been brought to our attention that the organization known as Cellstrike has also assembled to contain the threat. These reports need verification, since the presence of this mostly-secretive organization has left many wondering about the intention behind their involvement.

Stay tuned for more information as the situation unfolds, while we continuously strive to obtain news about the event at hand. The population, local or otherwise, is urged not to panic and to await instructions from authorities only.

“You’re not going to believe this, Captain, but Alpha team’s report was right. We’re seeing… a spider, an actual spider! Our helicopters are on descent, we’ll be able to get a closer look soon”.

“Roger that, Sergeant. Reports are consistent, but describe the threat.”

“Yes, sir… uh…It’s got 6 legs. At least 50 feet across. It’s huge, that's for sure. The color is gray, I think…”

“Copy that, Sergeant. Anything else?”

“Negative, Captain, it’s all we can see right now. It’s attacking the dam and the surrounding area… I… I can’t believe my eyes. What the hell is this thing?”

“Focus, soldier, you’re on a mission. ETA to landing?”

[UNINTELLIGIBLE] “Pilot says 1 minute to rally point. I… I see one of our squads on the ground, I can’t make out which one.”

“That’s Delta-3 engaging.”

“Should we assist?”

“Negative, Sergeant, stick to your orders. Land at the rally point and head east. There’s a settlement on standby for evacuation. Its position makes it inaccessible to local authorities’ vehicles.”

“Wilco, Captain, Closing in on the rally point.”

“Report back on contact.”

“Yes, sir! Ross, over and out!”

Operation Warlord: Undevided Cellstrike Preliminary Report #043SF-L

Cellstrike leadership has deemed our involvement necessary on the basis of a threat to national security. It became clear that local authorities do not possess the necessary firepower to handle the situation, and a military mobilization would have taken too long.

Currently, we have several squads with boots on the ground to contain the threat, while waiting for the science division to land and start analysis on the enemy. At the moment, our men have it surrounded and it cannot advance to more populated areas, although we have teams on standby in case that happens. The enemy is under heavy offense, but it seems to take little damage from conventional weapons. Bravo team reported a greater success while engaging it with fire and I have informed the rest of the assigned squads to utilize this approach. All dispatched teams have exhibited excellent reaction, communication and collaboration in the face of this threat, demonstrating their unwavering courage and professionalism. I am currently handling additional join requests from on-hold Cellstrike members who’ve understood the importance of this collaborative effort, and that their participation is key to a quick resolution. 

Additionally, a support team was dispatched to the closest settlement in case evacuation becomes necessary. While the enemy’s origins are still unclear, a first report from Sergeant T. Ross seems to address this; it indicates a claim from the settlement residents that they have summoned the spider in order to protect themselves from foreigners trying to steal their lands. This report is implausible to the Cellstrike leadership, and more information from the science division is needed to verify these absurd claims. Additional details from Sergeant Ross’ report include the locals’ description about blood-based rituals and the existence of multiple clay idols depicting spiders. While these may point to an unusual type of worship, there is no logical reason to link the settlement’s beliefs to the emergence of the enemy.

I will make sure that the local population and the authorities are constantly updated on the situation, but I will minimize information about the creature’s origins until a full statement from our science division is delivered.

And for our closing news segment: it’s been several days since a giant spider attacked the Hoover Dam and put the nation on high alert. While initially local authorities were overwhelmed by the creature, the organization known as Cellstrike has managed to neutralize the threat and has therefore undoubtedly prevented a nation-wide catastrophe. 

The final stand against the monstrous spider has been described as difficult, following several artillery hits that allegedly damaged the dam’s structural integrity. However, no military or civilian casualties have been reported in the aftermath, but Cellstrike has not yet released any official statement regarding the operation. We are also still waiting on exact numbers regarding the damage and costs necessary for repairs and support in the area.

Ever since the attack began, the question on everyone’s mind is: “where did that giant spider come from?”. The government hasn’t released any official answer, leaving us to speculate on its origins and, most importantly, its intentions. A great debate has been sparked within the environmental community when information leaked that an investigation into Droxton Oil is underway, but we still have no official comment from any company representative. Could they be responsible for the existence of the giant spider? Is our ecosystem at risk? And most importantly, will another monstrous creature threaten the security of our nation again?

We only hope to glean more information in the days to come. Until then, we commend the Cellstrike heroes who, through their skill and bravery, have stopped the monster from advancing further and ultimately defeated it. The entire country is in your debt, brave soldiers.
